TNFRSF10B pertenece a la superfamilia de receptores del TNF y contiene un dominio de muerte intracelular. La molécula adaptadora FADD recluta la caspasa-8 al receptor activado y es necesaria para la apoptosis mediada por TNFRSF10B. TNFRSF10B se expresa en diversos tipos celulares, y en niveles particularmente altos en linfocitos y bazo. Esta proteína transmembrana de un solo paso contiene dos unidades repetidas ricas en cisteína en su región extracelular, seguidas de un segmento transmembrana y una cola citoplasmática que contiene un típico "dominio de muerte". La expresión de TNFRSF10B está regulada por el supresor tumoral p53. También se ha indicado que TNFRSF10B puede promover la activación de NF-kappa-B.
