La proteína 3 de unión a sintaxina, también conocida como proteína plaquetaria Sec1, homólogo 3 de la proteína unc-18, homólogo C de la proteína unc-18, Unc-18C, Unc18-3 y STXBP3, es una proteína citoplasmática perteneciente a la familia STXBP/unc-18/SEC1. STXBP3 se expresa en células que presentan exocitosis de gránulos, como neutrófilos, mastocitos, plaquetas y células endoteliales. STXBP3, junto con STX4 y VAMP2, puede desempeñar un papel en el movimiento dependiente de insulina de GLUT4 y en el acoplamiento/fusión de vesículas intracelulares que contienen GLUT4 con la superficie celular en adipocitos. STXBP3 participa en la consolidación y secreción de gránulos secundarios y terciarios. STXBP3 contiene un dominio SEC1. La fosforilación en Ser129 puede estimular la liberación de gránulos. La STXBP3 humana comparte un 90% de identidad de aminoácidos con la STXBP3 de ratón. STXBP3 interactúa con DOC2B; la interacción es directa, ocurre en la membrana celular, excluye la interacción con STX4 y regula la secreción de insulina estimulada por la glucosa.
