La serina/treonina-proteína quinasa D2, también conocida como PRKD2 y PKD2, es una proteína de citoplasma y membrana que pertenece a la superfamilia de las proteínas quinasas, la familia de las proteínas quinasas Ser/Thr CAMK y la subfamilia PKD. PRKD2/PKD2 se expresa ampliamente. Contiene un dominio PH, dos dedos de zinc de tipo éster de forbol/DAG y un dominio de proteína quinasa. PRKD2/PKD2 se activa mediante DAG y ésteres de forbol. Los dominios de tipo éster de forbol/DAG se unen a DAG, mediando la translocación a las membranas. La autofosforilación de Ser-710 y la fosforilación de Ser-706 por PKC alivian la autoinhibición del dominio PH. PRKD2/PKD2 convierte las señales transitorias de diacilglicerol (DAG) en efectos fisiológicos prolongados, dependientes de la PKC. Participa en la resistencia al estrés oxidativo.
