La PDIA6, expresada en plaquetas, funciona como una chaperona que inhibe la agregación de proteínas mal plegadas. PDIA6 forma parte de un gran complejo multiproteico de chaperona que comprende DNAJB11, HSP90B1, HSPA5, HYOU, PDIA2, PDIA4, PDIA6, PPIB, SDF2L1 y UGT1A1. PDIA6 también participa en la agregación plaquetaria y su activación por agonistas como la convulxina, el colágeno y la trombina.
