La glicerol-3-fosfato deshidrogenasa [NAD(+)] citoplasmática (GPDH-C) pertenece a la familia de las glicerol-3-fosfato deshidrogenasas dependientes de NAD. La GPDH-C desempeña un papel fundamental en el metabolismo de carbohidratos y lípidos al catalizar la conversión reversible de dihidroxiacetona fosfato (DHAP) y reducir el dinucleótido de nicotina y adenina (NADH) a glicerol-3-fosfato (G3P) y NAD+. La GPDH-C es inhibida por iones de zinc y sulfato. Las mutaciones en este gen son causa de hipertrigliceridemia infantil transitoria. A diferencia de la gliceraldehído-3-fosfato deshidrogenasa (GAPDH), ambas tienen sustratos diferentes.
