La proteína similar a la butirofilina 9 (BTNL9) es una proteína de membrana de un solo paso tipo I, miembro de la familia BTN/MOG, perteneciente a la superfamilia de las inmunoglobulinas. BTNL9 consta de dos dominios: un dominio B30.2/SPRY y un dominio de tipo V similar a Ig (similar a inmunoglobulina). El ARNm de BTNL9 humano se ha identificado en tejido adiposo, pulmón, timo, bazo, colon y corazón, pero sus niveles más altos de expresión se encontraron en linfocitos B. También se ha observado una regulación negativa de la expresión de BTNL9 en tumores de cáncer de colon.
