En asociación con TRAF1 y TRAF2, la reticulación del receptor inducida por los trímeros de TNF-α o LT-α es crucial para la transducción de señales, lo que provoca apoptosis, activación de NF-kB, aumento de la expresión de genes proinflamatorios, necrosis tumoral y diferenciación celular según el tipo celular y el estado de diferenciación.
