Existen tres clases de ATPasas: F, P y V. Las ATPasas vacuolares (tipo V) poseen un sector transmembrana de conducción de protones y un sector catalítico extramembrana. La proteína codificada se ha asociado con el sector transmembrana de las ATPasas tipo V.
